A standing grant

Yes, you may read it aloud.

This page exists so that you can send somebody a link instead of an email, and so that nobody ever has to wait for an answer.

The permission

The publisher of Little Red Comes Home grants standing, non-exclusive, worldwide permission to teachers, school and public librarians, early childhood educators, childcare providers, and staff of child-protection and community organisations to:

  • read the book aloud to children in classrooms, storytimes, libraries, childcare settings and community sessions;
  • record such a reading and publish the recording on a school, library or organisational channel, including publicly on video platforms;
  • display the book’s pages during the reading.

No application is required. No fee is payable. This permission does not expire.

What we ask in return

What this does not cover

Why this is public rather than on request

Because permission processes are where good intentions go to die. A librarian who has to write an email, wait a fortnight, and chase a rights department will programme something else instead, and the something else is usually nothing.

The point of this book is that it gets read. Everything that stands between a person who wants to read it and the reading of it is a cost we would rather not pay.
