The licence, in plain words
The printables on this page are released under Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–NoDerivatives 4.0.
That means: yes, print them, photocopy them, put them in a newsletter, hand them out at a clinic, send them home in book bags, put them on your school intranet, translate them with our permission. Please keep the credit line and the web address on them. Please do not sell them or edit the wording.
The no-editing condition is not proprietary. The safeguarding language is precise on purpose, and small changes to it — softening “you would still have done nothing wrong” into “it’s all right”, for example — change what it means.
Reading it aloud
Teachers, librarians and early childhood educators have standing permission to read the book aloud and to record and post read-alouds. No application and no fee.
