For professionals
Something to hand a family today.
If you work with children and families, you already know the gap: you have five minutes, a worried parent in front of you, and nothing age-appropriate to give them for a four-year-old.
What you can use right now
- The family sheetOne page, prints in black and white, no branding to be embarrassed about. Hand it over as it is.
- The safe-adult handA twenty-minute activity that needs no preparation and produces something the child keeps.
- The response pageA URL you can write on a card for a parent who has just disclosed something to you and will not remember a word you say.
All of it is free, openly licensed, and requires nobody to give an email address.
Copying and distributing
The printables are released under Creative Commons BY-NC-ND 4.0. You may photocopy them, put them in a waiting room, include them in a discharge pack, add them to a newsletter, or load them onto an intranet. You do not need to write and ask.
Please keep the credit line and web address on them, so a photocopy of a photocopy still leads somebody back to the full guidance. Please do not edit the wording — the safeguarding language is precise on purpose.
What this is not
This is not an evaluated intervention and it is not an approved curriculum. No efficacy claim is made and no study has been done. The classroom lesson materials are an unreviewed draft and are marked as not for delivery.
Treat the family-facing sheets as what they are: a plain-language restatement of established guidance, in a form you can hand to somebody. Your own service’s protocols and clinical judgement govern.
We would rather have your criticism than your endorsement
If you work in child protection, early years, paediatrics or family health and you can see something wrong with these materials, that is the most valuable thing you could give this project — considerably more valuable than a logo or a quote.
We publish our own harm assessment, including the risks we rate as serious. Tell us what is missing from it.
Bulk and donated copies
Sponsored distribution to childcare centres, libraries and community organisations is priced at cost plus fulfilment and the arrangements are published. If your service could use copies, say so.
